Cermanová, Valerie ; Štangová, Věra (advisor) ; Lang, Roman (referee)
Sickness insurace benefits provided during pregnancy and maternity The diploma thesis analyses the sickness insurance benefits provided during pregnancy and maternity. The period of pregnancy and maternity is very demanding for a woman both economically, psychologically and physically. Social security law regulates material security to help mitigate in particular the economic impact of these social events. It is an important tool for encouraging an increase in the birth rate and thus has positive effects not only for the individuals directly concerned but for society as a whole. The thesis is composed of an introduction, a core, which consists of five parts, and a conclusion. The first part deals with the basics of social security and the most important moments of its history in relation to the topic of the thesis. The second part focuses on labour protection of women during pregnancy and maternity, which complements the material security regulated by social security law. The third part focuses on general issues of sickness insurance, including participation in sickness insurance, entitlement to benefits, its organisation, management and financing. The fourth chapter is devoted to individual sickness insurance benefits that are directly related to pregnancy and maternity. These benefits are...

Vondráčková, Jana ; Háva, Petr (advisor) ; Potůček, Martin (referee)
This diploma thesis focuses on changes in the system of sickness insurance in the Czech Republic since 2009. Based on the analysis of the development of social security in the context of neoliberal capitalism and economic globalization, the aim of the thesis was to reflect the ideological and factual basis and the legitimacy of the institutional change in the sphere of sickness insurance in connection with adoption of Act No. 187/2006 Coll., On sickness insurance and the discovery of socio-economic consequences of these changes. The theoretical basis of this thesis has been the institutional change in the sphere of sickness and the (non) legitimacy of the policy in this sphere of public finance reforms. Other theories have included the relationship of economic and social policy that they have been closely related to the theory of social state. The social state has been the beginning of the subject of aging, globalization and the recession of economic development in the last decades. In the empirical part of the thesis, with the use of the method of institutional analysis, critical discursive analyzes and interviews, the sphere of sickness insurance was examined in connection with the connection with the adoption of Act No. 187/2006 Coll., On sickness insurance and the socio-economic implications of...

Svocák, Richard ; Tröster, Petr (advisor) ; Zemanová, Jana (referee)
Since numerous legislative changes in sickness insurance in the Czech and Slovak republics are currently occurring, it is worth to analyze their impact on society. Because of the interconnected evolution of sickness and health insurance, it is essential to look at these changes from a broader perspective. Also health insurance regulation constitutes one of the most debated over legal areas due to its enormous implications on the lives of every single one of us. Certain aspects of health insurance reform in the Slovak republic did not go exactly according to the plan and its results are therefore increasingly met with outrage. The aim of the work is to analyze the most interesting aspects of sickness and health insurance reforms in the Czech and Slovak republics and further identify its positives and weaknesses. Furthermore two alternative concepts of sickness and health insurance regulation are described. The social welfare system in the United Kingdom is briefly introduced and the legal framework of the National Health Service is presented as an alternative to the local concepts of Health insurance. Secondly, after successfully implementing large scale reforms in Health insurance regulation, the Netherlands serve as bright example of a market and patient oriented healthcare system with excellent...

Sick pay and absence from work: evidence from flu exposure
Grossmann, Jakub
The system of sick-pay is critical for balancing the economic and health costs of infectious diseases. Surprisingly, most research on sick-pay reforms does not rely on variation in worker exposure to diseases when investigating absences from work. This paper studies the effects on absences from work of changes in health-insurance coverage of the first three days of sickness. We explore geographic variation in the prevalence of infectious diseases, primarily the seasonal flu, to provide variation in the need for sickness insurance. Estimates based on the Czech Structure of Earnings Survey imply that when sickness insurance is not available, total hours of work missed are not affected, but employees rely on paid and unpaid leave instead of sick-leave to stay home. The substitution effects are heterogenous across occupations and socio-demographic characteristics of employees, and suggest that workers do not spread infectious diseases at the workplace as a result of the absence of sickness insurance coverage in the first three days of sickness.
Obligations of the employer in sickness and pension insurance
Ježková, Martina ; Lang, Roman (advisor) ; Tomšej, Jakub (referee)
Obligations of the employer in sickness and pension insurance Abstract This thesis deals with the individual obligations of the employer in sickness and pension insurance. Sickness and pension insurance are two of the social insurance subsystems. The state does part of its responsibilities in this area through employers, as they have the easiest access to some information. Of course, the state could obtain information from the employees themselves, but this would represent a huge administrative burden on the state and a great logistical problem in how to actually obtain information from the employees. Obligations that an employer must fulfil may be difficult for a small employer who does not want to hire external companies to fulfil its obligations to the state and it can be almost impossible to fulfil all obligations properly. The most well-known obligations of employers, of which (perhaps) all citizen-employees know, are payments into the sickness and pension insurance system in the form of social security contributions. The employer pays the social security contributions for himself and his employees. However, this is certainly not the only obligation of employers. There are many more of obligations and they are regulated in various pieces of legislation. Therefore, the aim of this thesis is to present...

Analysis of effectiveness of changes in sickness insurance in the Czech Republic in 2010-2017
Skřivancová, Petra ; Štípek, Vladimír (advisor) ; Lukášová, Tereza (referee)
This bachelor thesis deals with the analysis and evaluation of the impact of changes that occurred in the system of sickness insurance in the Czech Republic between 2010 and 2017. During this period there were several legislative adjustments to the Sickness Insurance Act, especially the austerity measures adopted in 2010 and the adjustments in 2011 and 2014. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the history and the present system, as well as the legislative changes in individual years. The end of the theoretical part characterizes sickness insurance and its benefits. The beginning of the practical part is devoted to the model example of the calculation of sickness insurance benefits, where we can observe the influence of adopted austerity measures. The second part analyzes the impact of changes to income and expenditures of sickness insurance. Expenditures have risen in recent years and are reaching the level of income, which may lead to the system´s financial incompetence. Furthermore, there is an analysis of the indicators of sickness insurance, mainly temporary incapacity for work, which shows that despite the reduction of the average length of one case, the average percentage of incapacity for work is increasing. Finally thesis analyzes the impact of changes on the circles of insured people and evaluates the impact of changes. Based on the results obtained, measures are then proposed to improve the sickness insurance system.
